Hi, I am Olivia
Project manager. Parent. An expat based in New York, United States.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to United States wasn’t part of the plan for the long haul. As with many international moves, it began as a job chance and soon grew into something far larger.
The initial months were demanding — fresh systems, new routines, new expectations. Routine tasks seemed more complicated than expected.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines took shape. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and started building something that felt secure.
Why I Built Glimmer Plain Hub
Most online information was either corporate relocation guidance or surface tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site exists to fill that gap — practical advice drawn from real-life experiences in United States.
